Unfortunately, no we are not. Energy Star does not currently have standards for pet doors, so it is impossible for us to be Energy Star approved at this time.
That being said, we don’t think that a lack of Energy Star standards for pet doors should stop them from being energy efficient. Our approach is to use the same tests that Energy Star requires for windows and human doors on our pet doors. We have also had our doors tested at an independent laboratory that is approved for running Energy Star testing for windows and human doors.
The results of that testing have led us to be the first and only pet door to be approved under California’s stringent Title 24 building code. Our doors have also been included in hyper-efficient certified Passive Houses. We also think the results show that the performance of our pet doors compares very nicely with the performance of Energy Star doors and windows.
If you would like more detailed information on the performance of our doors and how they stack up to Energy Star, Passive House, and other performance standards, feel free to look at some detailed articles on our blog and from other websites:

Stock Freedom Pet Pass doors are made for North American standard 1 ¾” (44 mm) thick exterior doors. This door thickness is the rule in the US, Canada, and Mexico. It is also common in the UK and western Europe.
If your door is thicker or thinner, we will build your door to your custom thickness for free. We can custom fit doors up to 4 inches (101.6mm), down to 1 1/4″ (32 mm) in thickness.
Our door mount products all come with an interior compression/sealing gasket and exterior sealing gasket. We add an 1/8th (3.1mm) to the door thickness measurement we receive from you. The combined thickness and density of our gaskets insure a proper joining of the Freedom Pet Pass pet door assembly and a snug fit to your door.
No batteries Required. Our product magnetically unzips from the bottom when your pet gives the flap system a little push down there.
Unfortunately there is really no such thing as chew proof. Dogs have been known to wreck furniture, destroy siding, and even chew through chain link fence.
Our pet doors are constructed from non-toxic, high-end, rugged materials that were chosen with pet safety, energy-efficiency, and their ability to hold up to heavy use and outdoor exposure in mind. Steps should be taken to minimize your dog playing with or chewing on the door.
Yes. We have many multi-pet households who use our doors with no problems. We typically recommend installing the pet door at a height to accommodate your tallest dog. This may mean that you would need to incorporate a step up for cats or smaller dogs.
There is no difference between our cat doors and our dog doors other than the names of the sizes. Our petite cat and petite dog doors are exactly the same, as are our standard cat / small dog and our mega cat / medium dog doors.
No confusion is intended. We have separate sections for cat doors and dog doors in order to help steer people to the door they need as quickly and easily as possible.
The best way to clean the pet door is with a small scrub brush and woolite (a non-detergent cleaner). It should look brand new when you finish:)
